Human Mobility Patterns and Its Cross-Correlation with the COVID-19 Transmission in Jakarta, Indonesia

Abstract The novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has been rapidly spreading and causing a severe health crisis in Indonesia. In the absence of medically proven vaccines, official authorities commonly adopt social control approach under strict public order. Indonesian Government is no different, which imposed large scale restriction as an intervention strategy Jakarta other major cities. this paper, we aim to quantify correlation between human mobility daily new cases COVID-19 are further divided into two main distinct patterns: weekdays weekends. We utilized big data sources presented by reputable online service providers include Apple, Waze, Google terms reported patterns. patterns driving walking activities well movement trends across different places such retail recreation, pharmacies, groceries, parks, etc from March 1 July 31, 2020. To capture real growth rate COVID-19, use Governmental Disease Response Acceleration Task Force. Our cross-correlation analysis revealed that (province-level) Indonesia (country-level), case correlated with on both weekends time. work put additional insight supporting importance distancing effective mitigation combat outbreak.
